Pretty Pride is an art programme aimed at drawing out the extraordinary beauty of women in challenging circumstances. Women learn how to create and produce their own art in the programme, that gives them an opportunity to earn money and express themselves through their, usually untapped, creativity.
Each art piece reveals a story of hope and beauty; a story of a woman rebuilding her life, finding her voice, her place in this world and leaving her mark.
We filmed this video in Heideveld on the Cape Flats in Cape Town, South Africa. The women share their own story authentically.
