Wakai was written, recorded and shot on the banks of the Daly River on Tipperary Station as part of a Red Dust Role Models Strong Young Women’s Camp. The young women from Daly River camped out for 2 nights with Naiyu elders and service providers along with some Red Dust crew who all enjoyed a weekend of yarning, fishing, swimming, some great art programs and music. Wokai translates as “stop, finish” and the young women on the SYW camp chose to write a song about being understood and accepted for who they are. Enjoy.
