Curators Conversation, a new initiative by Art Curator Grid that brings together curators from around the world to discuss timely topics in the arts and culture world.

This first edition of Curators Conversation was in partnership with NYC-based organization Assembly Room and was held on Zoom on June 17th at 4PM EST.

This event invited a conversation between Mexican curator Gemma Argüello (upon Art Curator Grid invitation) and Philadelphia & New York based curator Emily Alesandrini (upon Assembly Room invitation).

The two covered what it means to be a woman working in the male-dominated arts and culture world, as well as the socio-cultural landscape that surrounds it. Moderated by Yulia Topchiy from Assembly Room, Argüello and Alesandrini discussed thought-provoking topics like pay disparities, strategies on how to organize and collaborate, the overwhelming patriarchal presence in Western art history and how curators are in a unique position to enact positive change.
