I made a three-piece showcase as part of the show “UnMaking History” in Lahore,2019. The showcase had a light-box, with a scratched acrylic sheet depicting overlapping portraits of women, huddled around a bride, the light-box had a sound piece playing recorded audio of women celebrating a wedding with wedding songs in the traditional South Asian fashion.

This was one part of 3 piece showcase that explored the plight of migration and displacement and the trauma of fleeing your homeland. this video is one part of the showcase which can be viewed first or last, either ways, the happy occasion depicted is either the ending story to the displacement and loss of homeland, the rebuilding of life. Or the other way around it is the first chapter where everything is fine but then war strikes and the story ends with the violence of war, with bodies floating in the dark river.
