International Women’s Day
The 2016 theme for International Women’s Day is “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”. SDPI pays tributes to women at workplace in the following words:
“Women, who constitute almost half of Pakistan’s population, are an integral part of the society. In rural areas, they help the male members of their families in day-to-day field works whereas in big cities, they have joined the most modern and technical professions.
A sizeable number of Pakistani women are now contributing to the country’s socio-economic development and sustainability. In addition, their professional engagements do not interrupt them in taking care of their families and domestic chores. Pakistani women are strong, determined, faithful and modern enough holding moral and cultural obligations. Be it their family, community, or professional life, they know how to cope with the situation and step forward.”
