SOUNDBITE (ENGLISH) BINETA DIOP, AFRICAN UNION SPECIAL ENVOY
“When I came here in 2014 I was looking at the issue of sexual abuse. I was talking to the men. I was asking them what is it? It’s not part of our culture, we don’t abuse women. Today I hear from you that policies have been put in place and everybody’s getting into that matter to make sure that nobody says that African troops are the worst…we are the best. We need peace, security and stability in this region (Horn of Africa), so you can have peace. If you have peace, we silence the gun.”
