New York based Creative Director, Tammy Pushér, takes her inspiration from the fashion icons of the 40’s 50’s and 60’s envisioning a strong and beautiful woman, evoking the subdued charm and demure beauty of decades gone by. Her fashion home “Rosa Pushér” has released its third collection and today Ms Pushér joins me in the following interview. – Phunky London

Phunky London: It is good to be back in New York and I couldn’t help but notice a good number of people are familiar with your work, but there is a lot about your life that I’m sure a lot of people are not familiar with. How did you first get interested in becoming a fashion designer? What is your background?

Tammy Pushér: I’ve taken design classes at the Katharine Gibbs school in NYC and I’ve worked for several Fashion Houses in NYC as well. I’ve always wanted to be a designer ever since I was a little girl. I’ve always loved the old Hollywood glam look so I’ve decided to design my collection around that era. I also wanted to revolutionize the way that the modern day women dress.

Phunky London: Rosa Pushér collections obtain elegant self confidence and seem very intimately feminine, how do you define a “Modern Day Woman”?

Tammy Pushér: My meaning of a “Modern Day Woman” is someone who is strong, assertive, responsible and has her own identity. Although my collection is “Classic Hollywood” inspired, I adore the Iconic beauties in which I pay Homage to. I love the fact women aren’t housewives anymore and are more outgoing and Independent.

Phunky London: Indeed, celebrities have changed the face of advertising and their role of brand ambassadors has increased significantly. Which today’s celebrity has the right look and image to be the face of Rosa Pushér?

Tammy Pushér: It is so hard for me to choose as there are so many “Classic” Celebrities and Socialites who I truly adore and would love to work with. I’ve already dressed Countess LuAnn of the Real Housewives of NYC, Actress Elisabetta Fantone, A list Super Model and Actress Heidi Albertsen. New York’s Premiere Socialite Tinsley Mortimer recently became a fan of the Rosa Pushér Collection as well. Her Favorite is the “Mary Blossom” Dress Look #8. There are several A List Celebrities who have gained an interest in the Rosa Pushér Silhouettes and can’t wait to get photographed on the Red Carpet wearing my collection. I am so blessed as an emerging designer to have been given the opportunity to work with such important women.

Phunky London: With the successful launch of your online boutique www.RosaPushér.com how likely are you to consider Rosa Pushér collections availability to the high-end fashion retailers?

Tammy Pushér: We’ve been doing direct sales to the Rosa Pushér client offering made to measure and custom dresses. We have been making a few changes here at the Rosa Pushér Design House and have decided to do our first Tradeshows after the launch of our Fall/Winter 2012 Collection during New York Fashion Week. We are planning to do a Tradeshow here in NYC and Los Angeles. We are ready to sell to Specialty boutiques and Department Stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys New York, Jeffreys and Harrods of London. We have a very fast turn around time as our factory is right here in the Heart of New York’s Fashion District. We handle all quality control etc here along with my Team.

Phunky London: Do you find stressfull the extremely short amount of time fashion designers are given to make their mark?

Tammy Pushér: I don’t think that Fashion Designers are given a timeframe as to when they should make their mark. Especially if they’re Independent. Its taken many designers YEARS in order for them to make their mark. I know that nothing happens overnight and an overnight success is a one in a million. As long as I remain consistent I shouldn’t have to worry too much. I also do not compare myself to other designers, everyone is different. I must admit that being a designer is extremely stressful at times. I am blessed that I was able to turn my vision into a reality.

Phunky London: It is always my pleasure to witness the rise of a new industry name to remember, as I personally thank you on behalf of Luxenburg Magazine for sitting down with us. At last, but not least, what would you like to say to our readers?

Tammy Pushér: I would love for them to know that the Rosa Pushér design house plans to collaborate with many of their favorite celebrities and socialites throughout Spring/Summer 2012 having amazing Parties and Trunkshows. We plan to work with several Charitable Organizations as well. We will continue to deliver beautiful, Timeless and clean looking silhouettes season after season. Thank you so much for having me, Phunky. It was a pleasure and again, I am extremely honored to do this interview with you.
