One of the hashtags I use below I use quite deliberately and almost academically. It was Dr Emma T Murray who brought the concept to my notice: just as we know how to go to war, if we want to really change things we must learn how to know how to go consciously to peace, too.

Peace is not an alternative to war; a thing to puncture violence temporarily, as if it were something we should be grateful for. No. Peace must be the norm. It is a minimum we must require of life. We must be ambitious. We must be demanding. For it is war we must outlaw, in its masculine presumptions.

And women, and girls, and young people of all genders, are now educationally in a position to show the rest of us how this may happen. Their thirst for adventurous knowledge and savvy makes them far better equipped for the future. Whilst *we* dream of survival, I mean those of my age and gender, others much wiser dream of thriving.

I want to join them, to be allowed to; to feel there is more to life than living in fear of its claws.

Living in fear of its clauses, too. The law doesn’t make something right, it just makes it legal.

That, also, Emma Murray was able to make me see.

And so equally all the young people I have had the pleasure to meet – equally I say; *just* as much.

Do let’s learn how, then, to go vigorously to peace. Using all our weapons of assertive ingenuity, of inclusive efficiency, of emotional imagination, of intuitive arationality.

Do let’s do it. And do let’s do it together.
