Queen Victoria Elizabeth Ortega was born and raised in Boyle Heights. She is a longtime activist, community organizer, and queen of the Royal Court, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and fighting for equality for all trans people. Queen Victoria is currently a Program Coordinator in the Community Relations and Membership Care Department at Clinica Romero. This role allows her to work with other communities who are also underserved, which is her passion. Queen Victoria describes herself as an assertive Latina trans women, preitita, gordita, and full of confidence.  She knows what she wants and fights to get it. She says she knows she was not meant to “fit in”, so she doesn’t even try. In fact she embraces her natural way of standing out. On her free time, Queen Victoria loves to go shopping for antiques. She has a few favorite stores which she visits on weekends. In her eyes, the trans community is often overlooked, by their families, their LGB brothers and sisters, and society as a whole. She sees her life as an opportunity to pave the way for others like herself. Si se puede!
